Crystal River’s barrier islands protect Kings Bay and our world-famous springs from storm surge, rising seas, and sediment, but they are disappearing at an alarming rate. Their loss threatens water quality, wildlife habitat, and the tourism economy that supports local jobs.

Continued Legislative investment in island restoration and shoreline resiliency delivers proven protection and is vital to safeguarding Florida’s springs, coastal communities, and economic future.
